Quartet San Francisco Performs in Brubeck Festival
Quartet San Francisco was honored to perform in the 2005 Brubeck Festival concert held at Mills college in Oakland California.
The quartet performed two movements of Mr. Brubeck's Chromatic Fantasy for String Quartet as well as two of Brubeck's most popular jazz works Blue Rondo a la Turk and Strange Meadowlark arranged for the Quartet by Violinist Jeremy Cohen.
Quartet San Francisco performed the first half of the program for a full house including Dave and Iola Brubeck. After intermission Brubeck's musical
director Russell Gloyd led the Brubeck institute fellows joined by Bill Smith in a performance of some of the music Mr. Brubeck composed while
studying at Mills College with Darius Milhaud.
Quartet San Francisco will continue bringing the music of Dave Brubeck to audiences both at home and around the world. Brubeck's music inspires both
audiences as well as performers, and will always be a part of the QSF performance experience. We look forward to performing and recording more of his
repertoire.
